Day 20 Thursday June 14, 2012
The morning was taken up with breakfasts, showers, and playing with Joey. Jess had a physiotherapy (physical therapy) session today for her back, and Pete had to work, so we got to play with Joey.
We stacked blocks, and Joey knocked them down. We read stories. We did not read the book that Pete brought home for Joey entitled "Katie's Ferm." This is a story about a little girl who visits her granda (granddad) on his ferm. It is it written in the Scottish dialect. Pete can read it fairly well--the rest of us not so much. Anyway we had a grand time playing with Joey.
During afternoon while Jess and Joey took a nap, Neil and I went to Hill Head Library where I pretended to be Jess and used her card to check out books. It was fun looking and the differences in the books available.....the mysteries and general novels. There is a difference. Of course, the big sellers in the US are available as well.
We walked around some more and stopped for tea and a sweet. We stopped into a shop in Ashton Lane which appears to be an alley full of pubs and shops. I wanted to go to a shop that I had spotted the night we went for dinner at the pub. The shop was called Nancy's. The shop was full of hand crafted furniture and jewelry.....beautiful items which had been made primarily in Scotland. The shop had three women and one man who came into the shop and designed and made the jewelry. The jewelry was gorgeous. The silver pieces were outstanding and expensive.
We went back to the flat. We had Peter cooked pork chop and chicken sandwiches. Pete is enjoying his Anchor Bar Sauce which we carried from the States. From our viewpoint it was a great gift because he really didn't think we could get it.
After dinner we played with Joey until her bathtime. Then we read and watched tv shows about British people who take old, old, old buildings and rebuilt them. I fell asleep watching the tv.
Steps today: 5523
