Today is our last full day on ship. We did the usual breakfast in the Britannia Room. We sat with a couple from Cornwall for the third morning......rather unusual, but enjoyable. We also sat with the gentleman from Newcastle for the second time. We enjoyed the Newcastle fellow very much. He was humorous and enjoyed comparing UK health systems and the US health system as well as the political systems.
Neil went to the library and decks 12 and 13. The high decks were open again since the high wind warnings were finally lifted. Nancy did a tour of the main galley which was very interesting. The main galley prepares 16,000 meals a day. To say the least it is huge, and people on this ship are eating a whole lot. The tour was a self guide through....follow the signs and arrows from one spot to the next. One chef was working one the gravies and sauces for the day. The pastry chefs were busy preparing all of the deserts. Mainly, there'd was not much food out. As we finished the tour which still had a line down the main hallway, the people behind me were complaining because it was not a small group guided tour of five or six per group. They also wanted to see the chefs actually preparing food. This is really funny since they were sneezing and coughing all over. Personally, I am really glad there was not any food out.
Back to the room....to meet up with Neil. Neil wasn't back from his morning so I started the packing which went really well. I did, however, growl at myself for packing so much stuff. Way too much....apparently, I didn't learn from the first time. Neil returned as I was doing the packing and decided that he would get his stuff packed as well. Mission accomplished....clothes for tonight's casual elegant dinner that will work for Tuesday as well.
The afternoon included a theater presentation by the RADA players. It was an adaptation of The Merchant of Venice. The presentation was quite enjoyable for both those people who watched it and those who slept through it. After the play we all went to seventh deck for scones and clotted cream which borders on sinful.
Dinner was in the Britannia Room as usual. Marsha and Bob showed up....she in her purple velour sweatsuit complete with the Marge Simpson t-shirt. Bob was attired in jeans, polo shirt and jacket. These would be two of the people who had some trouble complying with the rules. Dinner was its usual wonderful style. After dinner we returned to our stateroom to place our luggage in the hallway for the luggage handlers to remove to the cargo area.
The play tonight was several small encore presentations. It featured the two on tap dancer and singers. David Copperfield was back for another presentation of his delightly disrespectful humor. The Cunard Singers and dancers did a tribute to the music of Neil Diamond. After the play we went to Jan and Bonnie's stateroom to drink their half bottle of champagne. We drank our full bottle last night in our stateroom. They only got the half bottle because they were first time guests.
We returned to our room at a decent hour to try get some time before we get up for the excitement planned for the docking tomorrow morning.
