Day 50. July 13 Friday
Glasgow Again
Today we had to do laundry or start wearing very dirty clothes. We put the clothes in the suitcases and pulled them down the hill to the Aqua laundry. The commanders of the laundry helped us get our laundry in the machines they wanted us to use, select the appropriate cycles, and put in the soap. The laundry was quite busy this morning with people dropping off laundry to be washed and dried and picked up later. That seems to be a lot of business for the laundry. With the laundry washed, dried, folded and packed in the suitcases we pulled them up the hill and put it away.
We decided to walk to Amber for lunch where we had orange chicken and chicken and mushrooms. We also shared an order of spring rolls which are awesome. The roll is so thin that it is almost translucent. The roll has less cabbage than those in the states. I do wish they served them with something other than soy sauce however. The Chinese tea is served in a China pot. Excellent.
After lunch we really did need to walk more. We walked to the bead store and bought a few supplies to fix some of jewelry that Jess has. We walked through a number of really nice neighborhoods. I managed to walk into a concrete pillar that us just knee height. I left a small hunk of skin there. We checked out a couple of charity shops for some books by Peter James, We walked past a butcher shop that had a beautiful piece of beef in the window.
We eventually made it back to the flat. We asked Pete and Jess if they were interested in steaks for dinner. They volunteered to do the shopping and cooking. I volunteered to pay and clean up. The steak diner with jacket potatoes was wonderful.
A good day.
