Got cleaned up, had coffee which was delivered by room service, and went to breakfast. Around the table were a couple from New Jersey, one from Maryland's eastern shore, and a younger couple returning to New York after living in Ireland for three years. We were clearly from the wilderness outside the wall of the fort so to speak. Interestingly enough, not only did we experience the prejudice of money, but of geography as well. We were only marginally included in the conversations....our location was the extent of the inclusion.
After breakfast we went to a talk by Sir David Frost about interviews that he had conducted and the memorable mistakes that people had made. He particularly picked on Ed Sullivan who was a not a great emcee, no matter how good he was at booking talented people for his show. Frost had lots of stories and kept the audience spellbound. However he does appear to have some minor problems keeping track of what point he is trying to make. After the presentation we went upstairs where we spent time working of the blog. These are days that will not be published until New York because of the tenuous nature of the internet connection at sea.
Eventually it was time for lunch and after eating we took two turns around the deck for exercise. Later in the afternoon we retreated to the cabin where we worked and relaxed. We ended up watching the Olympic themed movie Cool Running which was as much fun as the first time we saw it.
After our dinner which was enlivened by champagne and cake to honor the couple from Cambridge, Pat and Geoff who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary which was on the 28th. He still teaches at one of the colleges at Cambridge and does research on why the central nervous system will not regenerate.
On our way to the Royal Court Theater we stopped to get formal portraits. We went to the Cunard Singers and Dancers production of "Hit Me With a Hot Note" which was a tribute to 50's and 60's popular music which was as usual excellent with many fine songs and great dance numbers.
After the show we stopped at the casino to spend a dollar playing a penny slot machine. It was hardly any fun at all as the machine seemed very dead. We only had 3 winning nickels our of 20 and won only 14 cents. We were done very quickly. From the Casino we headed down to G32 for a beer and some music. The music was very loud and the songs chosen were pretty much unknown to us. We played our iPad game and when our beer was gone, we headed up to bed, stopping at deck seven for some juice. We recorded our ship / voyage vitals and bed. We will have to try something different tomorrow night.
